OSHA has issued new Tuberculosis Directives, effective February 1996. These Directives enforce the 1994 Center for Disease Control (CDC) guidelines, and allow for the wearing of new NIOSH-approved respirators/masks, as well as HEPA masks.

"Guarding Against Tuberculosis" has been revised to reflect these developments, including the changes in respiratory protection requirements. The programs are designed to assist facilities and operations whose employees have a risk of exposure to Tuberculosis.
